how politicians can control a budget they live off? Food for thought(W.I.P.)

Poll Question:
Can anyone explain how people that can attend $1000(more not often less) per plate dinner for party fund raising claim to know how the average American lives ? These same people say they need a raise then turn around cut any part of the budget that helps those who can not work because their job may have been sent overseas.
