| Once upon a time there lived a lovely maiden, With fair complexion, bright blue eyes and hair golden. Her bubbly, beautiful smile was like a fountain, She stayed in a cosy cottage up the mountain. Her days were happy in her loving, peaceful home, About puerile fantasies her mind used to roam. Her boundless joy came to a halt when her Mom died, The demise aggrieved her and tears she could not hide. Hope built in her when her father married again. She thought that her step-mom would assuage her pain. Alas! all her colorful fancies were belied When her step-mom revealed her real wicked inside. The jealous woman could not endure her beauty. She planned to kill her in a frenzy of envy. But luck favored the little girl and she was saved. With indomitable malice the lady raved. But "Good prevails over evil", as goes the phrase. Her step-mom was jailed, returned her joyous days. Prompt: Jealousy/Envy Form: Couplet |
