A poem of my challenges of working with children with autism |
| MY AUTISTIC STUDENT Sitting in a classroom a blank look on his face. Am I reaching him? Information going in, processing going on. Does he understand me? Surrounded by faces some new, some old. Is he lonely? In his world of sounds, smells, feelings and sights. Is he lost? Where is the map to his world? What is the address of his mind? Do I have the key to open the door? If I find the answers to my questions, Will he let me in? |
