We run through our childhood like it’s a race
Always wanting to get older get older, to pick up the pace
And those years are gone in the blink of an eye
In our twenties we just look back and sigh.
As the responsibilities of life settle in
We get a job, get married and have our kids
In our thirties we think back to those youthful days in the sun
And wonder when we will be able to again have our fun
The answer is simple though still far away.
Because the fifties is when we really get to play.
Long moved out are the kids that took up our time
Long gone are the days we worked hard for a dime
Now is the time we relax and enjoy
All the things we did not as young girls and boys.
