Abecedarian poem the first day of school with a sarcastic twist Writer's Cramp co-winner |
Awesome! Back to school sales Check the list: crayons, glue, Drawing paper, notebook paper Everything, checked and packed For the first day of 180 Gone, oh no, summer’s gone! Homework? You’ve got to be kidding I don’t want to write about my summer vacation Just kidding, sure, I had a great… long… boring summer Killer heat, sweltering humidity, Lightning taking out the power for days Missing my friends, my games, my computer Nothing fun to do Overwhelming frustrations dealing with my Parents, who just don’t understand how hard it is. ‘Quit complaining,’ they’d say, ‘Remember, we didn’t even have air conditioning,’ they’d say So, I’m supposed to be Thankful for all of that? Understand me, please, I’m not complaining. Just Very glad to be Welcomed back, with such an original assignment complete with Xeroxed graphic organizers to help me think, like I don’t know how You want me to go to the office, sarcastic attitude… who me? Zowie! That didn’t take much! Back on vacation again! |
