Does God wait for his toast?
Does he prefer instant coffee
To home brewed
Because of the time it saves?
For him, is time irrelevant?
Is a moment an eternity?
Or eternity but a day?
And how does it factor in?
Does God ever pace the halls,
Anticipating what is to become
Of mountains,
And streams that slowly
Carry the mountains
Out to sea?
Or can he blink his eye
And see in an instant
What is to become
Of evolution, erosion
Of what has passed
And is now passing?
And if he blinks
What does he miss?
A child’s cry?
A species death?
The slow whisper of a loved one’s breath?
If I had the choice
I would slow it all down,
Take it all in,
And rejoice in the beauty
Of a summer’s day,
Out by the lake
Chasing tadpoles
Through the eddies
And tall grass marshes
So the question remains ~
Does God wait for his toast?
