Spring

You didn’t chase the rainy skies away
but you brought an umbrella, and you said you’d stay
you didn’t chase away the winter’s cold
but you provided me a new hand to hold
and the icy panes
began to give way
to softly spoken words
and an end of the pain
in sight

now the dark seems peaceful, rather than heavy
now my heart is quiet and not so afraid
I feel as though a flower blooming once again
under the rain you give it, spring is on its way

I have you to thank for the trust you’ve given
for no reason, no reason at all
Dipping and spinning, in this dance we do
holding me close, “I will not let you fall”
and the hurt we shared
is not enough
to resist the friendship
to miss the love
the way it was meant to be given
