From the East
a wet wind
tangles my hair
singing cold sad songs
The waves keeping time

A distant
Speck upon the rising moon
Growing larger from a whisper
To a shout
the gull singing cold sad songs


The dead leave rolling
in and out of grotesque
driftwood
Like soft quiet footsteps
Singing cold sad songs

Fascination
with the sea
and the wind
and me
intermingled
like words and music
in cold sad songs

Dreams beckon me
To close my eyes and tenderly drift
Among the sad cold songs
From the island shaped moon
Sobbing tears upon dead leaves……….
