This started as a poem about springtime |
| I began these lines many times, I tried to write spring’s perfect rhymes: Colored blossoms release perfumes. The problem was the simile It resembled a homily: Insects swarm to attractive blooms. Instead of giving up the quest, I reuse the lines that were best: Perhaps I should have used mushrooms.
