Scars and Smiles

Written when I first decided to overcome self harm.

Its time for me to sort out my mind,
Get over the past and on with my life.

I know it will be hard,
I know it will take time.
But if I carry on this way
Then I will soon die.

I know tears and heartache will be involved,
But it is worth the pain
If it helps make me sane again.

I need to change for the better,
If I am going to get anything out of life.
These scars mark my past
But soon I hope a smile will mark my future.
