Halloween Costume

A frightening apparition

I looked into the mirror
and saw a frightening apparition,
a werewolf-vampire-feline-canine-zombie
gene-splicing creation.

It couldn't be real
this nightmare staring at me,
no matter how hard I tugged
the mask
remained in place;
no matter how I pulled
it stayed upon my face,
with All Hallows Eve twelve days away
what was I to do?

I put on a t-shirt that read:
I am a politician!
