Should I be A Poet?


Well it looks as though it has come to this
although not my intention.
But there has to be more to my life
than just drawing out my pension.


So I thought that I would have a go
and write some rhyming lines.
If this does not work, then something else
will pass my time.


You see, my sister, she inspired me,
so clever with the pen.
I will never be as good as her;
yet try I will but then,


If I were to write some poetry
What subject should I choose
it would have to be of interest
not one to make you snooze.


Maybe I will write about myself
my heart and soul to bare
or should I write some comedy
Oh I can't! It's just not fair.


No I think I will just give up on this
and put my pen away.
I will never be a Shakespeare
so I will just call it a day.
