Before me stands the past, it will not allow me to move on and thus it is destroying me. |
-Degradation- by Keaton Foster At the end Of every path taken There is degradation A hopeless wall standing Blocking the way Allowing no escape All who arrive Are too weak to climb All who stand In the shadow of the end Increasingly become less They stand there for endless days Never can they find a way to escape They must face what they have done Tortured by their memories Reminded by their scars None of them have the tools To dismantled the truth Of their impossible predicament I of course know this Because I am one of them Standing alone on the path Never knowing what’s beyond Only aware of what is in front of me Each burdensome brick Placed with infinite precision Who built such a metaphorical wall Is as clear as the path that led to it All of my days I have been walking Just to now find myself standing still I am aware of each and every detail Because each brick was carried by me I know each weight individually As well as collectively I know what it feels like Never again to be able to move on I am trapped here Continually wondering what to do While deeply knowing that there is And never will be anything I can do Degradation A hopeless wall standing Blocking the way Allowing for no escape I’m sure for a few There is something beyond The wall and the path But for me and people like me That is simply not the case… Degradation Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2013 |
