| Does life start once in thought or deed? Conceived it does burst forth making claim Setting on in motion events that lead To wonders all impressive that gives flame. It curves and twists along a route divine. We trust our hearts and strive for more beyond. Expect it all and play its part, that's fine. Live and love for all that must be donned. And as life shows out all its fine display Time drives us forth into an age of old We slow, reflect and bow, knowing we stay Only a few steps out from bitter cold. Soon death takes all and leaves us barely there We fall to dusty ashes; one last flare. The couplet plays a pivotal role, usually arriving in the form of a conclusion, amplification, or even refutation of the previous three stanzas. |
