The Crevice

Prompt 10: Inside the... Everyone has one, and they're pretty much all the same.

Lurking within the shadows
of that bottomless crevice:
cookie crumbs and crayons;
a single sock, whose mate has given up
any hope of reunion;
a magic marker, dried out,
and its colorful cap only an inch away;
the shiny shoe from a Barbie doll
and a single stray striped straw;
with pilling and polished pennies.

A hand dips within,
fingertips combing through the junkyard,
until they clasp the missing remote
and pull it free.
