A short article about the health benefits of juicing and walking |
Nowadays it seems like everyone is on some sort of health kick whether it is a lifestyle change or just a little something just to get into that new outfit within 60 days. For those wanting a better health lifestyle but want to take baby steps into achieving your goal, there is option just for you. Over the past few years a phenomenon appeared even though it has been around for years and years. What I am talking about you ask, well the answer is simply "juicing". Yeah, that's right drinking your meals. This idea of eating or should I say drinking is very popular among vegans and vegetarians but if you want to get started, this can be a simple way to ease yourself into becoming more healthy. You can juice any fruit or vegetable and you can add some kick to your juice by adding mint leaves or a ginger root. Money wise juicing can be very cheap but you will have to splurge on a juicer because the experts will tell you that blenders just don't make the cut. If you are not quite ready to spend big bucks yet, check out Walmart or Kmart for some cheaper brands that sometimes turns out to work a lot better than some of the expensive ones. BOOSTING HEALTH: Juicing can definitely boost your health and energy by whipping up all of your nutritional needs into one glass for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and sometimes maybe even a snack. There is even a recipe for boosting your immune system during flu season. Juicing can also increase your brain activity and is more effective than coffee. So in the morning instead of flipping the power switch on the coffeemaker try 8 stalks of celery, 1 large cucumber, 1 handful of kale, 1 handful of spinach, 1 handful of parsley, 1/4 lemon, and 1 inch of ginger root. I know it sounds like a lot but I bet you already have 1 or 2 of these ingredients in the home so just juice all these items into a tall glass, take some sips and you are good to go. Weight loss is also an added benefit to juicing. You can shed some pounds without having to worry about losing important nutrients and minerals. Here are two simple recipes to help you get started. Digestion Cocktail 2 oranges 1/4 lemon with peel 1/2 grapefruit (peeled) Handful of spinach Body Cleanser 1 beet 1/2 cucumber 4 carrots Don't just juice, exercise too!!! Walk, walk, walk, and more walking, it don't get no simpler than that. Exercise play a huge part in becoming healthy, being healthy, and staying healthy. Walking is one of the easiest exercises out there. All it takes is for you to put one foot in front of the other and it's that little thing you did when you woke up this morning to go to the bathroom or to your kitchen. Just a 30 minute stroll through your neighborhood or park is a good start and can improve your wellbeing. Walking has a lot of benefits which includes saving on gym membership fees, strengthen your heart, keep the weight in check, lowers the risk of diseases, and tones your legs, butt, and tummy. Here are two walking exercises you can do every day or a few days a week. Blast the belly walk: To shape your abs, use toning tips during every day walking. Draw your abs inward towards your spine, try to maintain this position the whole time you're walking (Breathe: don't hold your breath) If you have stairs in your home then this next one is for you. The stairs is a treadmill and a stair climber built into one and you don't have to travel to a gym to get a good workout in. Stair repeats-just as the name says, walk up and down the steps repeatedly, each time going faster and faster. Skip a step- just skip a step every time you climb up Hop Ups-using the bottom step just simply put your feet together and jump on and off the bottom step. With any type of exercise please be careful if you have knee or ankle injury. Also stop if you start to feel dizziness, pain, or shortness of breath. Get healthy!!! |
