Renewed Hope

Words swirl about, a tunnel of doubt
swallowed by this unforgiving world.
Positive emotions cauterized,
mocking death of my spiritual self.
Clinching fists pound my non-feeling heart,
thick opaqueness much darker than black.
Oppressiveness, pulling me under
drowning me in a world of deceit,
severing my silver cord of life
releasing me from the mucky pit.
Soaring through the sky, higher I fly
toward the glimmer of burning stars,
deep beauty reverberates through me.
The sheer vastness of our universe
envelopes my eternal being,
awakening my spirit within.
Love, hope, and dreams begin to surface,
sparkling light starts to cover the dark.
Enlightened, my eyes open anew,
the world feeling kinder than before
with mind, body, and spirit renewed,
creativity once again flows.
I gulp as I take pen to paper
compelled to share my experience,
hoping it will bring help to others.
