All life is mystery, unknown.
The winds of change have always shone
That hearts will prevail and lead us
Out of the mire of doubtfulness
Beware the irascible crone.

She is the one who mars the throne
Casts her evil out with a groan
Her arcane beliefs hold groundless
All life is mystery.

Take heart my friend and do not moan
There is a way, you may disown
And move above; beyond this mess
To bring the pure and faithfulness
Back to their shining; to their own
All life is mystery.

This is a Rondeau. It is an English Rondeau which is more serious and uses tetrameter.
The rhyming pattern follows R.a.a.b.b.a. a.a.b.R. a.a.b.b.a.R.
It has 15 lines with 3 stanzas – the first a quintet (5 lines), a quatrain (4 lines) and a sestet (6 lines).
