O watermelon I miss your sweet flavor;
down to the rind juiciness I do savor.
Season is over and I have regret;
substitute apple--wrong size, not as wet.
O my moist melon potassium giver;
I’m withdrawal active and so now I shiver.
Where did the red succulent tasty go?
Substitute apple--not quite apropos.
Don’t get me wrong I think apples soar madly;
orchard dear darlings I recommend gladly.
But there’s dichotomy like day and night;
you are no melon when I take a bite!
Yes I know apples keep doctor from coming;
(my paunch in want of some melon keeps drumming.)
I try my best to convince him for sure,
yet apple juices create stomach stir.
Here I am giving my tummy a talking;
still without melon my tummy keeps balking.
I try to quell a revolt from within,
but he knows melon from Macintosh skin.
O watermelon I’m sad for the lacking;
acid reflux at the point of attacking.
Seems like the War of the Worlds has begun--
substitute apple ’cause melon is done.
