The other day I saw someone once close to me, someone I love, a person that I deeply miss. |
-That Fire Is Still Alight- by Keaton Foster Heading This way Towards me Once a flame Thus ignition A rekindling She approaches Speaking Not yet seeing An avoidance At reuniting Our connection Assumption Such a Derelict institution I should know better But I don’t She must feel Just as I do The closeness Of our souls She must know That I’m very close And if she don’t Then to her face I must ask Why not How come Our once love Was very strong Overpowering All-encompassing Both a thing of beauty And absolute tragedy Something unforgettable To all who survived it Casually She is with another How cumbersome A man that I Do not know A stranger here In our hometown He’s an outsider In our once world Of fairytales and dreams For a man that posses All that I’ve lost He seems oblivious To what he has taken Or should it received Quite familiar Are her curves Poignant Is her smile Those calming eyes Have not changed She is still amazing Just as I alone Remember Once we Her and I Were novice lovers I was her very first She was mine Under a missing moon We once laid We spoke of a future That at that time We had no idea We would not have She wanted to be an artist She was talented Gifted at landscapes I could look into One her paintings And see something new Every time She Brilliantly awkward I myself The world would Say the same Since our end Since she broke my heart And left I’ve been wondering around Staring at the ground Never looking up Never seeing others I refused the idea That she was not the one No one Can come close to her I’ve been unable to forget Unwilling to move along Always am I Pondering to myself What if And there she is The spark to every flame The light in every sky The one true love I could have called home Maybe I should stop her Maybe I could impose my will I could tell her How it is I still feel Maybe I could act As I should have before It’s clear at least to me That fire is still alight Maybe I should do Something more than before She passes right on by She looks happy She looks like she is in love There is a brilliance To her presence Without me Of course that is From a distance What we had will burn… That Fire Is Still Alight Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2014. |
