Off the Cliff

john leapt off the side of the cliff to his death.

because he wanted to kill himself. because he hated himself. Because he was a failure.

That's what he had told everyone, in the suicide note he had rewritten 6 times before thinking it poetic enough to be his epitaph.

It still wasn't really good enough to be his final words though, which had only helped to nudge him off the ledge.

He wondered who would cry: first, and hardest, and in public. Crying privately at the loss of his life did not equal love.

He wondered how long it would be until he hit the ground.

But before he could finish asking himself that, it collided with him with a lacklustre thump.

John hadn't noticed how far down the ground wasn't.

He wiped the dirt from his clothes and wracked it up to yet another personal failure.
