What is in a name?
“What is your name?”

Steel eyes glared down from the seat of power. The huddled figure below neither flinched nor quaked. Even as the gray eyes hardened, the body exudes no life.

“I asked you a question boy. Who are you?” bellows forth from the lord. His patience reaching its end. Out of nowhere appeared this strange man before him. Young in age and obviously male, this strange being continues to confound his scholars and warriors alike.

Patience at an end the proud warrior strode forth grasping the… the boy for as he approaches the youth of the outsider reveals itself. Dusty blonde hair fit his current state. Tattered tunics loose on the thin muscles, so unlike the odd seemingly extravagant garments he wore when first captured. Outlanders were not welcome, spies an ever present danger. While only the most depraved without honor would utilize a child, his peoples safety comes first.

“Are you dumb boy” mocks a guard near the entrance to the lavish throne room. Turning to face another guard as he leans back against a gold plated pillar he continues his attack. “Maybe he is just stupid, certainly would explain him being alone. No one would want him. Parents probably threw him as a babe.”

“Silence” shouts the lord. He saw the flash of fire through the youth. “Well child will you answer my question?”

“Which question? You present two entirely different inquiries my Lord.” Seeing the confusion he continues. “My name has no bearing on my being. Unfortunately I have no answers.” Staring monotonously at the ruler he shows no true emotion. “Call me whatever for I have no name. All I was has been stolen. All I am has yet been writ. Call me nothing, my name is not me. Call me….”
