There were eight of us in the house, and In those days you would share a double bed, and I was to share with auntie Lily. This is how we were raised my brother and me. Uncle George was the eldest and the man of the house. Uncle Bill was just uncle Bill, But was great if he had a win on the horse racing, and we were given a few shillings. Auntie Jeanie was the favourite auntie and she was the mother that my brother and I didn't have. Auntie Cathie was the youngest and she was grannies baby and she was still at school when we first arrived, but due to leave she would take us for any new clothes we needed. Auntie Lily was the one who kept us in order and disciplined us, and God bless her. . 'Take your hands out of your pockets,' she would say and be in for nine . Now getting back to sharing a bed, as I said I had to share a double bed with auntie Lily and she wasn't the best of moods. She chided me for tossing and turning and for fidgeting. Now the bed and I went to climb into the bed and the spring moved and collapsed and she fell into the middle of the gaping hole. I laughed hysterically and run to granny because she was going to kill me for laughing, Not that she would have its just a saying. Next day there was a single bed put into the room for me.
