In the wee hours of the evening I am awakened
by the howls of coyotes and the chirps of crickets,
The utterly fresh air tantalizes my nostrils,
The balmy breeze kisses my eyelids,
An occasional light flashes in my window
as a vehicle passes by.
I lie in bed watching shadows on my wall,
Evaluating my day as my fingers play
the parts of puppets~~mini-windows of my soul,
Each finger plays a part as scripts are acted out.
How are my goals affected today?
What are tomorrow's new twists?
My thoughts turn to the glow in the dark,
The eerie late evening privacy I enjoy.
I succumb to the quiet peacefulness of the night
as my slumber overpowers me.
May these new thoughts be in sync and
a blessing of the future.
