We each deal with a being that strives to cut us down... but only if we let it take root. |
A being exists. I know it to be true. It lurks and creeps, Hides in the shadows; It seeps into your mind, Steals your sleep And makes you eat. It dances on your stomach Sending heartburn up in waves. It laughs in gleeful delight When you stand there in frozen plight. This creature can be the death of us But we can fight back and be triumphant. Breathe deep and find a place that is calm Banish the voices - dark and negative; Bring in the Light. Cut back his viperous whispers That have become indistinguishable from your own. Use positive affirmations To slice them into pieces And sweep them from your door. Take yourself for long nature walks Or join a class of yoga Steady yourself. Find balance. Your strengths will make him weak. He must feed on indecision; He must make himself part of you. Make your feelings known... Write them out and know yourself Take action; And bit by bit. He will grow small. His teeth and claws will dull, But only if you fight him back And chain him to the wall. A little bit of his gruffness is fine It motivates and sets things in motion But don't let him get out of hand Or he will rule your life And with his eager greed He will take it. 42 lines. {dropnote:"Prompt for: Jan 5, 2016 (Ren)" Subject or Theme: The Stress Monster!!
