Standoff at the Line

I wish someone else would make these decisions.

Another bus careens my way;
aching power echoes in my shins.

When the hammer-coach passes, can I say
I have once again chosen life?
Perhaps I only scrambled down the list,
to tremble amongst the busywork.

Doesn't my life amount to more
than a failure of execution?
