Meditation on the man who raised me.

I
his boy
not his lad
not my father
but he was my dad
now he lies in his grave
too late for his soul to save
no guess why he tested me so
where is an answer to let me know
am I not deserving answers quite clear
does the inquiry I've made come out of fear
do I disrespect the man who has raised me up
when every player revealed their back he had my cup
maintained a house for sheltering me from violent storms
should boys always remember dads wearing a halo not horns
