Dark Terra

Everyone has a dark side,
Part of us we hide from the light,
It watches you from the shadows,
Biding its time to strike,

It whispers to us in our darkest moments,
It shows us there is another path,
Embrace the shadow, the dark, the deep,
All it requires is a soul to keep,

There are those who shun the light,
Finding comfort â nay peace within the gloom,
Feeling the warm caress, the safety, the calm,
But are these souls lost to doom?

I hear the whispers myself,
First in one ear then the next,
"Your almost here" they say,
"Just let us in",

Shadows flicker in the corner of my eye,
Creeping closer but on the sly,
I feel the light within fading,
The darkness taking ground,

There is a secret battle within us all,
Two sides, both true,
But only one can break through,

Embrace the dark?
Embrace the light?
