For those bereft a lighthouse
Low Tide

Did I see beyond the threshold?
I didn't mean to pry
The door had been left open
A beacon for my eyes
I'm sorry if I overstepped,
Overreached my grasp
I thought it had been left for me
I think I missed my mark
Was it open for somebody else?
If so, I hope they came
Inside looked so inviting
To keep it vacant, such a shame
But I fear I lost courage
It looked too good for me
So back into the driving rain
I made my way to sea
And in the corner of my eye
A curtain quivered, silhouette
A door ajar now swinging bye
As my imagination let
My mind see some of what might be
If it was only mine to take
Forbidden fruit, forsaken trees
And echoes in my wake
Echoes of what could have been
Long shadows, lighthouse shines
Yet still the sea, it calls my name
… and tides, they tell my time
