October is the month of pumpkin spice cafe mocha and candy corn
I love October. It's the scariest month of the year. It's the most delicious month of the year. It's the month of hot pumpkin spice mocha, sweet candy corn, and slices of pumpkin pie with piles and piles of whipped cream. It's the month of pumpkin carving and Halloween parties. Each year Starbucks or some other specialty coffee shop comes out with some new pumpkin coffee drink. However, this year I think they've gone too far.

October first is the day I begin my Halloween candy shopping. I go to each supermarket and grocery story purchasing bags of Halloween candy. Then I take the candy home and begin taste testing it to find the perfect combination to give out on All Hallows Eve. This year, as usual, my purchases begin with varieties of candy corn. Candy corn is the foundation of any good Halloween treat, so if I don't have a good selection of candy corn in the Halloween bags I give out then Halloween is ruined.

This year I found a new flavor of candy corn called Pumpkin Fever. According to the description on the package it mixes the traditional favor of candy corn with the spicy flavor of pumpkin pie, cafe mocha, and rich Swiss chocolate. I was overjoyed. One of the big candy companies was finally making a candy corn that suited my exotic taste. At least I thought it was one of the big candy companies until I took a closer look at the brand name hidden in tiny letters on the back left corner of the package. The name of the company was Salem Witches, Inc. located in Salem, Massachusetts.

The name of the candy company should have made me suspicious, but it didn't. When I got home, I opened the package of Pumpkin Fever, dumped it into the candy dish on the coffee table and went into the kitchen to make some coffee. I opened a package of pumpkin spice whole bean coffee, ground it, and then put the coffee onto brew. While the coffee was brewing I went back into the living room to set my DVR to replay my favorite Halloween comedies. After the coffee finished brewing, I filled a large Halloween themed mug and went back into the living room.

As I sit my mug on the coffee table, Young Frankenstein came on the TV. I sat down on the couch, picked up a piece of candy and savored it while I watched first few minutes of the movie. I remember eating another piece of candy and sipping coffee, but after that things got a bit fuzzy. Anyway this morning I woke up sitting in Frankenstein's Castle talking to a man that looks remarkably like Gene Wilder.
