What Love Is

A Candidate/Partner poem for Rising Stars with Espero

This is a collaborative poem with Espero for "Retired Founder, Rising Stars Program"  His lines are in red and mine are in blue.

Love is a gentle thing
A butterfly on a flower
A soft spring shower
An English sparrow's wing

Bringing sunshine in the day,
Comfort through the night,
Plays music soft and light
Brought together in ballet.

Teaching us to sacrifice
Instead of first, going last
Doing things before we're asked
And always thinking twice

Taking time not to judge,
Laughing over silly fights,
Before laying down at night,
Learning not to hold a grudge.

Love makes us better persons
Into who we're meant to be
No longer 'I,' but now I'm 'we,'
In the end we're better versions.
