An open letter to Life, in a poem- |
Dear Life, How do I know I'm doing this right? I don't even know who I am, just that I'm Mom's Daughter. And sometimes, even that doesn't feel right. I used to feel like I was sitting on top of the world, but these days, it's like I'm making so many mistakes and nothing works out how I want it to. So many people say I'll figure it out- "in my own time" they like to say, but the pressure of needing to find out who I am, what I want, and how I'll do it sometimes just makes me feel like I'm drowning. I know I'm capable of doing what I want, and Mom loves saying I'm smart, but "capable" and "smart"- they don't always get you too far, do they? So, please, Life, offer some guidance. A sign, a hint, a push in the right direction. Those would all be nice. Or better yet, just have someone come up and tell me, "This is what you're meant to do, and this is who you are, and this is how you do it." Well, I see Life is Life, and Life isn't Life without challenges and its ups and downs, but maybe, just maybe, wouldn't it be nice if everyone weren't so confused? I know I think it would be. If I have a next life, that's something I'd like considered, please! Thank you, Life, though, for being there.
