A woman caught up in the world of illicit drugs.

Into life’s blender she tiptoes,
blind, not knowing what has been done.
Misfortune rears its head because
she does not think, she does not pause.

She reads a book of famous men;
the wisdom there is lost on her.
To dream and step so carelessly,
she counts her pills in ecstasy.

Sadly she pawns her Cartier;
a necklace that she loved so dear.
To think that she has sunk so fast
warns her she has not long to last.

A habit that is now alive,
sucking her life away by night.
The days grow longer ‘till the dark,
gently choosing a periled mark.
