You are gone now
But my love for you
Lives on
You are etched into the memories
That have made me who I am
You took my fears
And chased them all away.
Your soul lives on
And it will for eons
As will my thanks and gratitude.
You did not purr like my cat at home
But you had a steadfast presence
Not the elephant in the room
More of a determined force
One that let me know
My family accepted all kinds
Strays were welcome here
Animals were loved,
Not with a frenzy
But will a willingness
To slip into place
And just BE.
