Holding hands at sunrise,

Dreaming for tomorrow,
lovers side by side.

It all begins in love with love,
timeless touch.
We vow forever.

Dreams do not anticipate,
a hospital marathon,
palsied hands,
a shoulder leaning heavily,
a life on hold, the sunset.

Watching you sleep
brought pleasure, felt safe.
Now I'm left to wonder
if you will wake,
stay with me one more day
or will you release me
from my vigil?
