A poem about taking a boat out to sight Orca

Orca Visit

The boat sped through the water,
Shooting up spray.
We were all excited,
Out to see Orca’s today.

The sky was gloomy,
As dark clouds hung low.
We crossed murky waters,
Tasting the rain as we go.

The ship moved closer,
As we neared our prey.
Cameras at the ready,
Out to see Orcas today.

First just the one,
Then two and three more.
Fins sliding through the water,
Then disappearing below.

The Captain knew his job,
He maneuvered with ease.
Close to the pod,
A group of three.

The baby Orca knew,
That we were there.
She played and she swam,
Without a care.

Her mother and grannie,
Directed her course.
Straight to the cove,
As they swam their way north.

North for the Orca,
South for the boat.
Cameras still clicking,
As we made our way to port.
