I planted a Polk berry seed outside my window, It grew into a seven feet tall bush that caged it in, Every summer I would peer through and see the huge Cluster of Polk berries gorged with juice, the redness of merlot wine.
I longed for and wondered if something would eat them, Not so, every year they shriveled and dried, what a waste.
Then one day peering out the window at just the right time Out the corner of my eye I saw a thick flock of birds fly in And land on every branch. I stood frozen as a statue, heart pounding, fearful they would fly away.
They cleared every berry in sight and quickly took flight
To this very day I wonder how they knew the berries were there In midst of the city. Someone greater than I took pity heard my silent cry and sent them by.
