I’m entering my “golden years,” less future now, more past. A Senior Center Entry
Memory’s Winding Road

I’m entering my “golden years,”
less future now, more past.
My memories are not as clear,
it seems they’re fading fast.

Still, now and then I look and see
my mem’ry’s epitaph.
I see that change has come to pass
and I can only laugh.

Remember when the telephone
had a dial that turned?
“Unfriended” wasn't heard of –
instead, you were just spurned?

The internet was Sci-Fi;
Google was not a word!
My GPS was called a “map”
and only seen, not heard.

Music came on 45’s,
A.M. radio was king.
The TV had three stations
but you could watch anything.

Cruising meant you owned a car,
that you were really hip.
Today it’s hip replacements
and the sundeck on a ship.

I remember politicians
who never were uncouth.
Of course, they spun the facts
but vaguely told the truth.

Yes, memories mark time’s change
and I don’t mean to scold –
but if you remember all these things…
you’re now considered old!
