A story I wrote based on a prompt I found on Pinterest. |
The large venue seemed to get smaller with every breath I took. I couldn't seem to get my vision to stay clear for more than a few seconds at a time, and I felt faint. I run in between people, interrupting conversations as I mumble some half-hearted apology. Where is he? Just as I'm about to break, someone grabs my wrist from behind. I twist around to find out who is preventing me from being comforted in my time of need. As I do, I get pulled into a black shirt and feel strong arms wrap around my back. I break into tears, and he just hugs me tighter, petting me and whispering softly into my ear. "Shh, you're safe, I won't let you go," he says as he kisses my forehead and pulls away for just a second. He grabs my hand as tight as possible without hurting me and leads me outside to properly calm me down. We sit at a nearby bench and he asks me what could've triggered the sheer amount of horror I was feeling. I didn't have the heart to tell him that I had another vision. I watched him get hit by a car, but I wasn't there to stop him in time. So I tell him it was the crowd, and I lay on his chest and breathe in his scent for possibly the last time. "Don't leave your house at any point tomorrow, okay? Don't ask why just promise me you won't," I say as I turn my head to look at those gorgeous blue eyes. "Promise," he grabs my face and kisses me hard, and I don't resist. This boy is my world, and I can't afford to lose someone who means this much to me. His funeral was yesterday. He was killed in a drive-by shooting by a person he owed money. I guess you can't really stop the inevitable. |
