The Chase

“Don’t look now, but someone’s chasing you.”

I turned my head.

“I told you not to look! What is wrong with you, Charlie?” Brad slapped me.

“I just want to see who’s on my tail, that’s all.” I turned back to face Brad.

“Your tail’s important, protect it.”

“Yes sir. I understand.”

“So get the heck out of here, you weirdo!”

We knelt for a moment. Brad put his hand on my head, blessed me.

I flew away, but first I set the forest on fire to light Brad’s way home.
