| Fool in the rain All love but in vain And when he does deign He's cast aside, slain A simple rook Caught in a nook In its clutches, gold hook A gift from a crook She’s up to no good And she’s misunderstood Without lifting her hood She’s left to the wood When the two meet Their encounter, not sweet She does try to cheat When he leaves the greet He follows her long Entranced by her song She does him great wrong Scarring lifelong And so his life ends The two never friends With her rook, she sends Silver and gold so it tends To harken her words To bring her more birds To lead her forwards To feed her in thirds When the body is found With evidence all around They follow bird sound And uncover her mound They cause her great pain Much more than sprain Her feeble attempts vain She's the fool in the rain |
