I Wish You Had My Back

I wish you had my back,
But, I know that you don’t.
I wish you’d change your colours,
But, I know that you won’t.

So, what is the solution?
Walk away in despair
Or stay and hope
For some slight repair?

I’m deeply saddened
And I can’t even begin,
To touch the surface
of the hurt and chagrin.

I’m so deeply saddened
Past all senses.
My heart is numb
And I’m putting up fences.

I fear and sense
My effort not to despise.
So, for now, I go through the motions.
By looking away and hiding my emotions.
