Tools

If I had to run down the cellar stairs one more time I was going to scream! Yes, it’s good exercise, but it puts nasty dents in my time line getting things done. My husband has every tool known to man, I usually use a butter knife. Sometimes I need real tools, but every time I need one I have to run down and get the tool, then come up and do the work. Usually it ends up requiring another tool, another down and up, and then at the end, everything has to be put back. Heaven forbid he needs something and I’ve left it up in the boy’s room while fixing their shade or something! My husband treats his tools better than I treat my jewelry.

Coming back up, I had an epiphany! How did I go so long without thinking this? I’ll get my own tool box! My own tools! Plus, I can keep it upstairs where I can get to it easily, and carry it right to the project! Even John would like this. I wouldn’t need to be rummaging through his tools looking for something that would work. I have a little problem with the wrenches and screwdriver sizes...

Off I went to the local hardware store. I got a cute little box that would hold everything I’d ever need. Then I bought real tools that looked like the ones I usually use, pliers being the king, a couple screwdrivers sized “bigger’ and “smaller,” and of course a hammer! When I got home I cleared a spot in my broom closet and set it in.

As I stand here in the hall today, tightening a screw with a butter knife, I’m trying to figure out why I seldom remember my tool box... it’s been two years...
