Popped into my brain early this morning

You tried to break me

But you only made me stronger

By not earning your approval

I earned my own

When you put me down

I learned to trust in myself

When you told vicious lies

That turned others against me

I learned to shut out the background noise

I used to look in the mirror and see a girl who cried at the drop of a hat

Now I see a warrior who doesn’t know how to cry
