A silly take on a writer’s cramp prompt.

There’s a war that’s raging in my head:
Eat some veggies or sweets instead?
Veggies are good—-they provide much fiber!
But some apple strudel?
Yeah, That’s my desire—-
No, no, no, no, I can’t give in!
Corn or cucumber or beans should win!
But “you only live once”
is a battle cry:
something sweet, since we’re all gonna die
The time to find pleasure is oh-so-short;
this mission for veggies I gotta abort—
But health is a thing, it has value too!
Oh what am I what am I gonna do…???
Look at the time! I’ll go to bed!
Read a book and rest my head!
Who needs to eat at this late hour—
this war is making my mood so sour…
So I’ll go to bed and find repose
tomorrow I’ll ask someone else who knows
which is better for my spirit and heart:
a plate of veggies or an apple tart?
