To get there. He had a detour. Along the country music highway As he was a big country fan. He stopped off. at Pisgah National Forest For a hike. Ate chicken and waffles. Along the way at the waffle shop and roadside diners. Slept at a rest stop in Ohio. And here and there Along the way. After three weeks on the road, Meeting many strange, But wonderful people, He finally made it. Safe and sound. Loosely based on my experiences in the mid-70s.
