I've challenged myself to write something every day for the month of October leading up to Halloween. This is my first day and I will start my daily writing with this little poem I wrote:
The dying embers of a crackling bonfire
mix with wind-blown leaves
the smoky air carries
the long-held wishes, hopes and dreams
that were waiting to come out
from the dark abyss;
they are finally free.
