31 Days of Halloween day 7 |
My husband is now retired, but years ago he had an office job where he did accounting work. The job was stressful not because of the work itself, but because he had a difficult boss. Still, he kept the job as the pay wasn't bad and he was in his fifties, and the older one gets the harder it can be to find a job that agrees with you. Everyone else he dealt with at that job was lovely and that got him through some difficult days. He did relish the times his boss wasn't there or left early, so he wouldn't have that extra pressure. One day when his boss had stepped out of her office, he may have had an encounter with the resident ghost.. The building was pretty quiet that day. The offices on either side of him were empty at the time and he was at his desk doing some work when suddenly he heard a door open. It was the door to one of the empty offices, not his boss's office. He looked and no one was there. He was puzzled because the door had never opened like that before, and no one was there in that area except for him. Later when he was talking to the switchboard operator he mentioned the strange incident to her. She told him that there was a rumored ghost in the building, and other people had experiences like he had, with doors opening by themselves. Others heard footsteps in the hallway when no one was there. It is an old building so it's intriguing to think a mischievous ghost was roaming the premises. Who really knows? But it is interesting that many people have had spooky experiences in that building. |
