November arrived
at seventy Fahrenheit
in Massachusetts.
“This is not normal,” I said to my wife.
I guess this is true global warming.
The squirrels will stop gathering nuts for their homes,
and mosquitoes will once more be swarming.
I put the storm windows up two weeks ago,
and gassed up the snow blower, too.
Yet we might cook the Thanksgiving turkey this year
outside, for a fall barbeque.
On the other hand, I won't be surprised
if the temperature drops overnight.
So let's not be hasty, lest we find ourselves
with chattering teeth and frostbite.
