Chapter 2

That morning was pure torture, like his parents promised. Eric went to the Stone creek memorial hospital. Eric sat in the psychiatrist.

Office Dr Grant introduced herself and sat down beside him with a notebook. Him. Her little beady eyes peered over her wire-rimmed glasses. She was a short woman, and her hair tied n a big bun. Eric was being called all these questions about his feelings Dr grant would just take notes. He was getting quite annoyed with her. Everything about this woman annoyed him. “Eric, what are you thinking?” Dr Grant Said thumbing her pen on the side of her notepad “Its important that we share what we’re thinking Eric” Dr Grant said smiling.

Eric just starred at his feet. He could not wait for this to be over.

“Your parents told me you beat up a young man yesterday,” Dr grant said, putting her notebook down. “do you want to talk about that?” she said again. Eric lifted his head and looked at Dr Grant his eyes were cold “I don’t know why I did it, it just felt good” Eric said laughing “what felt good Eric?” Grant said clicking her pen open “I don’t know, just hurting him” Eric said again.

Dr grant just nodded and started writing in her notebook again

“Ok Eric why don’t you go wait out in the hallway” Dr grant said opening the office door for Eric to leave. As soon as Eric walked out, Dr grant asked his parents to come in. Eric sat on the cold plastic chair in the hallway as he heard Dr. Grant’s booming voice talking to his parents.

“Mr. and Mrs. James, I think Eric could have antisocial personality disorder,” Dr. Grant said, explaining what she saw from Eric

“He needs help and fast, it might be good to admit him to the hospital,” Dr grant said again

Eric was hearing everything. How she could say that I am not a socio path he thought. Eric needed to get out of there. That doctor was going to admit him to a hospital. Eric started running down the hallway of the hospital. He was not about to be placed in a place like this; he thought.

He ran towards the exit door. He could hear his dad yelling at him.

He must have seen him through the office window

Eric just kept running, As Eric ran out the door the fresh air hit his face it was still early around 9:30 the morning sun beamed down on Eric he could feel the heat, Eric ran towards his school there was an old, abandoned house close to where the school was some teens went around there to smoke but never went in the house because old and condemned. Eric stopped running when he hit the forest, he could see the old, abandoned house as he walked further into the woods, Approaching the house he could see the windows boarded up and the wood on the house looked old and rotted but it would have to do because Eric was not going back home, Eric pushed opened the front door it squeaked loudly as it swung open the hinges looked rusted through upon entering the house the cobwebs just hung down from the doorway. The floors creak as he walked in this was so cool he thought I can see myself living here, Eric walked around the house it was small inside just a one level house one bedroom and a small living room, but it was enough room for him, he could make this into a cool place he thought the electricity was turned off properly had been off for a while but it was ok for now. Eric remembered he had to go to school. It was almost 11:30. He had to dissect a frog for science class science was after lunch, but he wanted to make sure he didn’t miss the class. He walked through the woods towards the school he could hear a few students coming out for lunch he saw Jade that girl he always wrote about he hated her she always dressed like a goth she had earrings in her nose purple hair and all the boys loved being around her, she always picked on Eric since they were kids, her parents lived two doors down from him, Jade would pull his hair, push him off his bike her parents would just laugh and say oh there just kids, he couldn’t stand it he couldn’t stand her, he was glad when her parents moved a few blocks away as he walked up towards the school Jade spotted him and yelled out “Hey loser, I heard you got arrested” she said laughing the town was so small everybody knew everything Eric just kept walking trying to ignore that annoying voice.

He could hear everyone laughing as he walked into the school.

The school hallways echoed with students laughing and arguing the cafeteria was full of students. Eric went to his locker to grab his science book; the bell rang lunch was over all the students began walking towards their classes the science room was bigger than most of the schoolrooms, the science teacher Mr Richard’s was tall with a big beard he talked so much that half the time the students would fall asleep just listening to him carry on about atoms and protons, Eric walked into the classroom every desk had a frog on it he eyed his frog looking at its lifeless body in the box, “Mr James, I trust you can contain yourself today” Mr Richard’s said looking at him with a stern look Eric just nodded and sat down all the kids were in sitting down the teacher started writing on the chalkboard the screeching from the calk echoed through the room, “ok class today we’re looking at these frogs” Mr Richard’s said clearing his thought

“I trust everyone has a frog at their desk. We will begin,” he said again, picking up his scalpel. Everyone began to cut open the frog. You could hear them saying ew, oh that is gross. Eric starred at the frog he put the scalpel on his stomach and punctured a hole in the frog he could imagine the cry of the animal as he cut it, his eyes closed as if he were enjoying the image in his mind, the teacher came around to see what he was doing “Mr James,” he said his voice booming, Eric turned his attention to the teacher “Mr James, what are you doing? You have to cut the frog completely,” the teacher said again.

Pointing to the little cut on the frog, Eric started to get angry all the kids were laughing he took his scalpel and started jabbing the frog with it the teacher began yelling at him to stop, all the students were screaming and whispering he stopped stabbing the frog and held the scalpel over his head he turned his attention to the teacher and let the scalpel fly towards Mr Richard’s it flew right beside the teacher’s ear giving him a scrape and landed right beside his foot, a few little bits of blood fell on the floor. Eric starred at the teacher with a smile and walked out the door he could hear the teacher calming the kids down it would not be long before he called the principal, he started walking towards the school exit his mind was racing he was full of adrenaline he got a big high out of what he did; he started jogging towards the exit and ran outside the cool breeze hit him he had to hide himself now his parents would come looking for him at the school once the principal phoned them about the incident in class, Eric ran back to the old house in the woods as soon as he reached the house he took an old crowbar that was lying in the grass and ripped the old boards from one of the windows the boards made a big thud as they hit the ground, he went into the house and just starred out the window as if he was waiting for someone. It was 3 o’clock Eric could hear the kids yelling and laughing, feeling so happy to go home, and just like clockwork he could see someone coming through the forest, he knew some of the older kids came into the forest to hide their smoking habits; he looked on and saw it was Jade. Her long legs creeped through the forest, hitting the branches as she walked and it looked like she was alone, no boys just her; he waited for a few minutes, almost stalking her, watching her every move. She took out a cigarette and turned around to sit on a tree stump close to where the house was. Eric licked his lips and walked towards the door. He opened the door slowly, hoping it would not squeak, and slowly walked outside. Jade was still there, her head slightly bent down as she took a big puff of her cigarette. Like a snake Eric crept his way to hear kneeling down every few minutes, he was right behind her now he could smell her baby powder, and her hair shampoo a fruity smell, he reached up his arm and throw her to the ground her body hit the ground hard he could hear the air coming out of her lungs like a big whoosh.

Jade struggled to get to her feet and saw Eric crouched down watching her like a crazy animal, just as she was going to speak, he lunged at her his whole body just slamming her to the ground she started fighting back with him scratching and clawing at his face

She tried to yell, but he covered her mouth and started slamming her head on the ground. Every blow seemed to weaken her. Eric had enough strength to begin choking her. He choked her until there was no life left in her body; she went limp, Eric stood up catching his breath looking at her lifeless body, he kicked her leg to see if she wound move he just stood there, his thoughts raced around what just happened, this was a new feeling for him, it felt like nothing he had ever felt before; he didn’t feel scared or angry. He was just intrigued.

Almost happy with what he had done, as he watched her in awe, he could hear footsteps breaking branches, someone was coming he grabbed Jada buy her arms and dragged her quickly towards the front door of the house, he wanted to keep Jada hidden he had plans for her, as he dragged her into the house he could hear voices, it was Jades friends they were coming through the forest puffs of smoke following them the two boys spoke randomly to each other as they searched around possibly looking for Jade. One of the boys started walking towards the house calling Jades name, but then quickly turned around and walked back towards his friend both had a few more puffs of their cigarettes shrugged their shoulders and started to walk back towards the school, Eric laughed to himself as he watched the boys disappear, he turned his attention back to Jade he tilted his head to one side and gazed at her; he kneeled down beside her lifeless body and put his hand on her arm. She was so cold.

He noticed she had blood on the side of her head, probably from when he repeatedly banged her head on the ground. Eric started searching her; he saw that her pockets had things in them.

He searched one pocket and found her lighter, a black one with a skull on it. A cigarette was crammed in her pocket beside it along with a small folded up note. Eric unfolded the note. It just read YES SHAWN LIKES YOU he threw the note on the floor he searched the other pocket there was a pocket knife why a pocket knife he thought it was small but it could come in handy he thought he flicked open the knife and started touching her hair her gross purple hair so greasy looking he took the knife and cut a lock of her hair a keepsake he thought. As he continued to look at his prize, the front door of the house creaked opened Eric looked up at the door as it opened he saw his dad slowly walking in his dad put his hands up and started inching towards him, “son step away from the girl, it’s ok” Frank said Eric got up and started backing up as he inched himself away from his dad he saw the police coming in through the door there was no way out he thought. He grabbed the pocketknife tightly in his hand and eyed every cop that started inching towards him there must have been 8 of them, his dad kneeled besides the girl he recognized her it was Jade he felt for a pulse but sadly couldn’t find one he sighed and turned his attention back to his son. As the police inched closer Eric started swinging the pocketknife at them one of the officers was able to grab his arm and tried to knock the knife out of his hand, just then all the officers were jumping on him grabbing him pinning him down on the ground Eric could feel himself being handcuffed he started kicking and screaming as the officers dragged him to his feet.

“son stop! It’s ok were going to get you help. “Frank said, trying to hug his son. "No! No!! let me go, I hate you” Eric yelled back, struggling to get himself loose from the handcuffs. The police dragged Eric outside.

And walked him through the forest towards a police car. Again, Eric started fighting with the police. The officers pushed him into the cop car. He was kicking the windows as they drove off. His dad followed in his car.
